Chris Daze Ellis is one of the few artists from the 70s and 80s to successfully transition from the subways to the studio. His first group show, hosted at the legendary New York nightclub Mudd in 1981, featured his work alongside artists such as Basquiat and Keith Haring. Since then, Daze has traveled around the world teaching as well as participating in exhibitions and public art projects. His work can be found in permanent collections of many prominent institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Brooklyn Museum (New York), Groninger Museum (Netherlands), and Ludwig Museum (Germany). Daze currently lives and works in New York City.
